NBA Highlights of the day:
All but forgotten as playoff contenders, Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles have a playoff win. Brian Westbrook caught a short pass out of the backfield and zigzagged through the Minnesota defense for a devastating 71-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, and the Eagles spoiled the Vikings’ first home playoff game in eight years with a 26-14 victory Sunday.
The Baltimore Ravens had Chad Pennington spinning, ducking, on his heels and on his back. When he did manage to get a pass away, they were often there to snatch it. The Ravens came up with four interceptions, including one returned 64 yards for a touchdown by Ed Reed, and won 27-9 Sunday to spoil the Miami Dolphins’ first playoff game in seven seasons. Baltimore stuffed Miami’s ground attack and negated the Wildcat, but most of all the Ravens harried Pennington into uncharacteristic mistakes. After throwing only seven interceptions during the regular season, he had four during a 22-minute flurry midway through the game.

O.J. Mayo scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half, and the Memphis Grizzlies snapped a 13-game losing streak to the Dallas Mavericks with a 102-82 victory Sunday. Marc Gasol had 19 points for Memphis, which ended a four-game skid overall. Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick added 18 apiece. Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 28 points, hitting 11 of 21 shots. Jason Terry scored 18 and Josh Howard finished with 12 points, but was 5-of-12 from the field.
Jesus Navas struck a fine low drive from out the box to give Sevilla the lead but Walter Pandiani struck a last minute to earn Osasuna a draw.
Pepe had the first chance for Real Madrid against Villarreal, and Robben was unlucky to see a 25-yard shot strike the bar. Real’s pressure paid off when Arjen Robben cut in from the right, strode across the pitch and left rip with a beauty into the top corner. Casillas saved a Pires shot as the Yellow Submarine looked to level while at the other end Klaas Jan Huntelaar came close to scoring on his debut. In the second half Casillas had to work a little harder to turn Llorente’s shot behind, and then Iker produced a brilliant stop to deny Rossi’s header.
Manchester United took the lead at st. Mary’s when Danny Welbeck was in the right place to turn in a Nani corner after O’Shea’s header had hit the bar. The Saints job then became much harder when Matt Paterson was sent off for a poor foul on Vidic. United went 2-up early in the second half when Nani scored from the spot. In total control United added a late third, Rooney teed up Darren Gibson to add his name to the scoresheet.
